Trust and appreciation: How the coach shapes the relationship with the coachee

A partnership also means a lot of work. Regardless of whether it's about keeping a marriage alive or maintaining friendships. The same applies to the relationship between coach and client: trust and respect are the basis for an appreciative relationship. Sounds simple, but it's not always the case.
Self-esteem - a question of beliefs

In light of current events, I would like to take the liberty of making an assessment of former BILD editor-in-chief Julian Reichelt. It is gradually becoming clear that he used his position of power to make female employees compliant. What he certainly doesn't suffer from is a lack of self-esteem, at least that's how it looks from the outside. At the very least, he probably hasn't internalised any "dysfunctional beliefs" - or has he?
Things always turn out differently than you think - but what does that matter?

Remodelling, part two: how it goes - it never works out as planned. Six weeks to go before my new kitchen arrives. SIX (!!!!!!) weeks!!! Honestly, I can do without a lot of things, but the cooker, fridge & co?
In concise memory: The Marlboro Man

Major remodelling in my house - four tradesmen arrive at once. Three are friendly and talkative, one is not. The latter reminds me of an icon from my childhood - not necessarily a role model, but one I still remember vividly: The Marlboro Man.
Making the team your own resource

Therefore, make your team your resource that helps to absorb work peaks and take a more relaxed approach to everything. How does this work? With the right communication!
Dealing with success: when top athletes cross the finish line

If the Google search engine is to be believed, dealing with success is really not an issue for anyone in this world. Just type in "dealing with success". You won't find anything, all the results are about how to deal with failure.
Yet it is so important to take a closer look at what someone is doing whose entire life and career planning hinges on precisely one success. A current example: the Olympic Games.
Four plus one: And now the Olympics without a live audience

Opinions are divided on the Olympics this year. Not enough to question the whole endeavour in times of corona - rightly so, of course. Tokyo is now taking place, but largely without live spectators, which means without applause, emotions, atmosphere and ambience in the stands and grandstands. What does that mean for the players?
Narcissists sometimes have a clear advantage

As a coach who works primarily in the executive sector, I often have to deal with people who generally pass as so-called narcissists. A difficult personality style, you might think, and not just since Trump & Co. Nevertheless, or perhaps precisely because of this, I would like to take up the cudgels here for narcissists in the "non-negatively focussed area", as it depends on one thing above all: the strength of the expression.
The fourth advent is coming - luckily!

The fourth Advent will be celebrated very soon. I traditionally associate these days with contemplation and reflection. In this pandemic year, things are different. Because even if it's not like war - which some people claim - worried faces and uncertainty prevail. And it affects us all, to varying degrees. Perhaps precisely because this time of year is so [...]
From one hundred to zero. What the postponement of the Olympic Games means from a psychological perspective.

When the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, announced the postponement of the Olympic Games at the end of March, the dreams and life plans of many top athletes suddenly collapsed. It's a time when my phone rings more often than usual - I've been working as a sports psychologist for the German eight team for many years. In the four years that [...]
