My dream - the Deep Work Coaching® in an environment where learning is fun - has become a reality with my own institute, AC Campus. I made a conscious decision in favour of the campus idea, because for me the campus is a place to work, to pass on knowledge, to learn and to network.
Amsterdam, New York, London, Jerusalem and Essen - five rooms with a very special history and the lobby as a connecting element. Each room contains a part of my personal history. And each room symbolises in a special way what AC Campus wants to be - a place with spirit and good feelings. All of the rooms were designed with great attention to detail by interior designer Bettina Kratz, Managing Director and owner of kplus konzept GmbH.
SPACE
The city of three religions - intense, extraordinary, inspiring with depth and strong energy.
I felt immediately taken in by the city and its holiness. I was impressed by the Wailing Wall and the Al Aqsa Mosque. But it is also a city with many contrasts - you either love it or hate it. The warm colours of red, gold and brown combined with the scent of incense and intense Arabic spices give the room a special flair.
What connects Jerusalem and the AC Campus coaching training programme?
SPACE
Water, canals, houseboats, cafés, tulips, hash, biscuits, cheese and honey waffles are just some of the words that characterise the cosy life and vibrancy of this city.
Tall dark doors in the cityscape combined with impressive architecture. I like the openness, the integrated cultures and the relaxed atmosphere.
I was here with my niece Emma as a gift for her confirmation - our first trip together. Her parents gave Emma the root and I gave her wings as an aunt.
What connects Amsterdam and the AC Campus coaching training programme?
SPACE
The old, venerable city with royalty and aristocracy, Hyde Park, Tower, Tower Bridge, Cathedral, Harriods and the Museum of Modern Art. I like the combination of British reserve on the one hand and elitism on the other.
Very British - stylish, expensive, old splendour, wearing hats, tea time, pubs, apple cider, pie, baked beans and the Downtown Abbey series. From a sporting point of view, the Oxford - Cambridge rowing regatta has a long tradition.
What connects London and the AC Campus coaching programme?
SPACE
The city that has become my home, my home, where I feel at ease. Coal, Zeche Zollverein, industrial heritage, Krupp, Villa Hügel - a city that offers more than meets the eye. The largest city in the Ruhr region, a melting pot of cultures - honest, straightforward, genuine but also green. This is where it all began with the founding of the AC Campus and where the coaching training programme takes place.
What connects Essen and the AC Campus coaching training programme?
SPACE
Statue of Liberty, Word Trade Centre, Central Park, Metro, Manolo Blahnik, Sex and the City, marshmallows and cheesecake, the first coffee to go - a noisy, loud, pulsating city that never sleeps. Many cultures combined with the feeling that "everything is possible", but also "everything is too much". Courage is rewarded - you just have to dare and take the plunge.
This is where I met Bettina Kratz over 25 years ago. We shared a taxi to Manhattan and later sat together in the hotel lobby while Bettina sketched the entrance hall. How beautifully everything in our friendship came together in these rooms.
